Back to HH Blackshields! FW Warlord Titan. Also Dark Mechanicum/Battlefleet Gothic.

Got these rather nice looking ships from vanguard miniatures. Using 1.6mm welding rod that I’ve snipped down to size for the base stems.

Not regretting my choice to stick with the Age Of Darkness ruleset for Horus Heresy ?

Just filling in a couple of gaps on my round skirmish board. So started with some ground up old plastic sprue, I actually used a meat grinder for this to give the sprue a rough texture. To make the rubble mix and set it in place I poured the sprue in a pot and mixed in varying amounts of black paint, ready mixed filler, pva glue, sand and wall bonding plaster powder. Don’t ask for exact amounts, I was just winging it till I got a texture I was happy with! Then I applied cardboard edging to the board to stop spillage over the edge. I then carefully applied it to the board and tried to make it look random. With the leftovers I made some random splats that I’m hoping will work as damaged ground for the board. I’ll get pics when it’s fully dried.

Going to be starting this FW model soon, so thought I’d start with the washing. Over the years I’ve done the usual soaking and washing in soapy water to clean the mould release agent off. But since I got a sonic cleaner I’ve never looked back, 6 minutes in this with a drop of washing up liquid and I’ve had great results with none of the fuss. I will say, if you’re going to try this, don’t run the sonic too long. The water can get hot and warp your parts.

Just assembled this for my Iron Warriors fleet. In the rules it counts as two normal transport.

Making bases for the ordnance markers. Using old epic 20mm bases to match the cardboard ones included with the game. Having to fill some of the original holes, and drill out a new one so I can fit three models on and still have a recess.

Decided to paint up a Horus Heresy era Iron warriors fleet, so it’s a mixture of chaos, imperial and space marine ships. Have to say painting yellow sucks and doing black detailing over the top is a nightmare! But it looks good and I’m pleased with the results.
