lmao…they let John out of the back room from building stuff to enjoy the event!! I’ve been trying to get my wife to play a wargame for 5 years now…

jocke

My wife enjoy the painting part… ^^

mo3355

Yes she actually has said she is interested in painting. Still waiting for her to actually “have time” to paint. Hopefully soon!!

jocke

Try to get her with some cute minis… My wife loves the Malifaux Gremlins, now after the painting she played one or two times… Can´t get her to play some historical games -.-

mo3355

I’ve gotten some warmachine minis as she stated she would like to paint “mechs” but they still sit there. Maybe I’ll look into the Malifaux stuff as well. Thanks!

krieger

I’ve had the same problem. Computergames, boardgame and roleplaying games, no problem. But wargames seems to be a no go.

krieger

Team Yankee as a conflict resolution aid? Why not?

panzerkaput

The nearest I got my wife into playing a game is a Jack the Ripper game where she was Jack. She seemed to enjoy the killing a little to much

panz3ritaly

Idem bere…but I will continue to play wargames…..no matter how she will enrage 🙂

wolf320f

dont you just hate these guys with everything, fancy car, house, good job, wife into wargames sounds like hes got the lot now we have seen the hardest to find lol
the closest my wife came to my figures was making me tea and sandwiches when i was engrossed painting and the occasional feigned “oh thats good”. although i always knew when she needed space as she would suggest i had painting to finish….saved many an argument and a “sweetheart can i stop painting now” shouted from the loft hours later always worked to make her smile and cushion the return to normality…..

stonewall

I would love to have my wife on board with my wargaming, I’m trying to convince her to start making terrain for my games, as she is quite crafty.

fox40

Awesome stuff. Wish my other half played tabletop games

zetazot

See? Team Yankee, the game the whole family can play!

fireblarney

My Wife plays as well, makes it a lot easier to find an opponent of course it does hurt the wallet more when you’re both collecting armies. Then you add both your daughters in and….. 🙂

izeman82

nice to see she’s been enjoying the event!

templar007

When my wife and i first got together she played only mind games, (as young women are want to do at that age), but slowly, very slowly, I began introducing her to gaming and now she plays at least once a week and she watches Beasts of War with me as well.

Recently when I was trying to decide on what style to decorate my new man cave she said and I quote, ” Why not duplicate the set of Beasts of War, we watch it all the time and the main set looks like a great place to hangout and play games.” How could I argue with that! So that’s what I’m doing. I ordered the wrong shelves but what I have works for now, I’ll replace them in a few weeks.

rael

Wish my wife would play games with me…wait that sounded off 🙂

rael

Taking my wife to Adepticon this year, got her in the Catan tourney (to start her off) then ,then got her on to something more “wargamey 😉 “

majorswotwot

The best I can do is convince my lady to buy me minis instead of you know, useful things.

coste

If you gonna play against your wife, neither she nor you better not be sour loosers xD

thardinger

How sweet, all the happy pandas.

andre61

So is nice to see women into wargaming keep it up ladies

normandyfan

The family that games together stays together. lol

neaceul

I wonder how many times she actually “won” against her husband? He wants her to continue to play and doesn’t want an angry wife.

sircaroon15

I could not agree more with you neaceul…the closest with came to a wargame war RISK and when I started winning, she accused me of cheating, and this was our last attempt (16 years ago). My son, 3 years old is quite enthoused by the whole concept of moving stuff and rolling dices…

zorg

the next big thing at marriage counselling?

blipvertus

And she plays Bolt Action? Right on!

benc

when she wins it is because she wins. I don’t throw games for any other opponents why would I let her win? Do you think women in gaming need some kind of special treatment? She would be livid if she thought she was being allowed to “win”.

lorddraconum

I do like following the blos great way to check out the game.

fjhamming

I sometimes let my wife win to avoid her being moody. Doesn’t really help that I tell her I let her win afterwards tho 😉

wolf320f

i only played the wife once and behind my back my mates schooled her on the correct use of a flyer needless to say my army dark elves went from all conquering, to arse whooped in short order.
i thought id try and ease her in slowly to the rules yet she wanted orcs and a wyvern, turn one she says “i’m flying hgh” and at that point i knew something was up. funny that was the first and last game and we divorced shortly after Lol now that was a good day……………

bitrider

I like these gamer interviews. Brings the community to the fore-front of gaming.

spaced2020

Absolutely. 🙂

spaced2020

I think many husbands would love to have their wives participate in their wargaming hobbies but it does seem to be the exception rather than the rule. That said there are more female gamers out there these days so it is looking hopeful for future generations. 😀

tmsmnns

My wife loves board games. But Miniature games are an absolute no-no. Her interest stops at the moment where I go “and you can build your own army”. Then she looks at me and says: “You mean I have to put effort into this even befóre we start playing?”

Well, to each his/her own , right?

roboute73

My fiancée struggles to even see my FoW stuff… No chance she would ever play a game. Still, it means she only has a rough grasp on how much things cost! 😉

heregrim

Great Game! Great Interview!

mainman
