Don’t the genestealers need to stand out from the foliage so the audience can see where they are on the board?

nakchak

old school, purple and blue

johnlyons

yet my idea is winning the votes at this point muwhahaha

catnipart

Orange and black like a tiger stripe sort of an idea.

I’d go with skeleton bone for the skin tone, with a black/brown carapace. Almost like a human insect hybrid.

zorg

when I voted I was thinking classic blue/purple but after seeing the vid would say green/bleached bone to go with the other nid’s you guys have.

psychoticstorm

Go for anything that will stand out for the camera really, realistic is nice, but blends in.

I really like the Giger idea… But I think I would do something like this:
– prime the genestealers black
– do a pre-highlight with white
– paint them with a diluted green

That way, you would get green shadows crawling through the foliage. Do the eyes bright red to add contrast and a little character to the models!

from doing Scourge for dropzone commander, metal primer followed by a purple wash is a very quick but very striking scheme. offset the metallic with bone or even black coloured talons and you’ve got a very quick but interesting scheme.

happyhowler

Very interesting idea there . Forget my previous post! I’d really like the team to try this colour scheme instead!

faceeater1994

i think go with the bone primer with green carapace but have the jungle foliage growing off of the carapaces

If you blast a model with a ton of minitaire’s ghost tint it’ll turn out really, really, really oily and slick looking, exactly like a Geiger alien.

grimwolfuk

Here is some scenes of the Aliens painted for AvP that might help, I used some of the ideas for my AvP minis.

So I know I got to this party a bit late but I think that if you want that metallic finish that the humbrol brand may work for you. There is a video on their channel that showed off these paints and made me think of what you wanted to try.

I hope that you have had a wonderful day and that wedded bliss follows. Cheers
