Raptors would be my first choice- frag and krak grenades deals with many more situations than lightning claws. Something that makes me laugh though, both these units have fear but aren’t fearless without an icon of vengeance that the warp talons can’t have, so your raptors can scare their Daemonic bretheren into being WS1.
I agree about the ‘fear’ thing totally – it’s daft, considering they’re meant to be veering towards more ‘organic’ rules. What do the Warp Talons have to fear exactly? Grey Knights maybe (but then who doesn’t?). Weird…
this kit imho is 1 of the best kits gw has done in ages realy wish i hadnt bought the finecast for my nurgle army the power sword will be given to my zerker champs as they look so great and might even give the chainsword to my space wolves as frost swords

I’ve just finished ripping this kit apart and I’m a fan of ‘dual’ kits in general as you can get a lot out of them. I’ve just squeezed out a Khorne Lord on Jump Pack, a unit of Warp Talons (I already have the old Raptors and again I think they could do with different rules fluff wise but they’re not all bad) using a spare Possessed with wings as the Aspiring Champion and have enough Raptor bits left to outfit a 6-7 man unit of Chosen with some spare plastic marines…and I’ll still be left with a few bits left. That’s about 500pts for the cost of the kit and sacrificing a few marines – I don’t think it’s that bad. It’s one area GW do well on (especially if you get 20-30% off) 🙂

I made my own squad of ten raptors using the FW plague marine upgrade kit, a few assault marine sprues and a helping of chaos spawn gribbly bits and green stuff. They look a milli times better than this new box set. Still, its way better than the Maulerfiend and Helldrake. Yuk.
i used the fw plague marines for my bikers as they do look fantastic but kitbashing always has the chance of looking better than the normal kits. my 1st raptor models i have is for my khorne army i used bits from csm marine,berzerker,possessed,spawn boxes as well as other bits which means i spent about 4 times the money on them
there is only one thing I can’t understand about this kit…why GW changed such a great head designes from old raptors?! They were scary, great looking unit(especially on the artworks). Now GW could definetely do them as on these artwork. Why didn’t they do it..?
Personally I think these models are currently the most attractive unit. Especially the Warp Talons look fantastic. Besides that I guess I would prefer to field Raptors as they seem to be much more flexible.
These actually make me want to collect a chaos force! Lovely models. Mind you I thought that about my Dark Eldar…and now there are crap in 6th hehe.
