    @pagan8th not really “around the corner”. It’s 230km how the crows fly. Too far for a relaxed day trip and way to expensive for a weekend away with the family. And last time I was there it was so crowded it really wasn’t fun most of the time.

    @poentje
    I skipped the painting competition.
    I kind of wished I had known about the Q&A session with Paul Bonner as I would have gotten there earlier.
    Not sure if they ever mentioned that they were doing that.

    @Wonkygoblin sufficiently advanced science is magic.  Replacing a rocket launcher with a fireball wand isn’t much of a stretch.

    230km is just a couple of hours on the autobahn 😁

    all things distance are relative and compared to the rest of us @sundancer is likely to be the one closest to Essen 😉

    We need something to wake you up in the morning that is not coffee (I know … heresy 😉 ):

    @pagan8th true if a) I’d have a proper car and b) during Spiel Essen the city of Essen clogs up completely on the last 30km. So the first 200km are a breeze and then you’re stuck XD (Not to mentioning the search for a parking space)

    I would not bet on that. There’s more Germans here and on OTTs discords that could be closer and any Dutch living around Eindhoven are only half the distance away.

    Sunday. XLBS.

    I live in Eindhoven, Essen around 120 km away. We were late booking a hotel in Essen this year, so prices were very steep. We’ve decided to stay in Gelsenkirchen, just north of Essen, for two nights. We’re going to park our car at an station on the U11 track just north of central station and take the subway to the Messe. This way we are sure have a seat on the train and avoid the chaos at central station. At night we drive to Gelsenkirchen and have plenty of options to have dinner, almost every restaurant in Essen is fully booked also.

    I’m not in Eindhoven any more. I’ve moved to the city of the big chocolate covered balls. 😉

    that will ruin your appetite for the rest of the day, but sooo good it’s worth it 😀
