About the Project

A couple of years ago I picked up Blackpowders Rebellion supplement. from Warlord games. Black powder games are hard to get into as it requires a lot of miniatures and my original thought was to delve into Napoleonics but the rebellion book sparked my imagination.I find the wars for independence to be very interesting and colourful with its variety and setting. This project is a chart of my progress as I began collecting the armies required to recreate the scenarios in the supplement and the terrain involved.

Continental Marines

One of the American units at Princeton were the continental Marines which were great to paint. I like the smart green uniform with white facings which later became red. I think I prefer the white. Apparently they were formed in 1775 in a bar following the British tradition of finding naval recruits. How many young men woke up with a sore head to find they’d joined up?

Rhode Island Continentals

Another box of continental infantry painted up.This time as a regiment from Rhode Island. I found a nice image of a chap dressed up as one which helped with the paint job. The minis are Warlords old Wargames factory range which I’m not a fan of. I find them fiddly to put together and to similar to their British range. I prefer the perry box set but Warlord do a militia set which is the easiest way to bulk up my militia forces.

Well I got hold of BlackSeas with the thought of adding a new dimension to my war of independence. I dont know too much about the naval engagements of the war apart from the fact that it was still a British vs french affair for the most part.Once I opened the box I put the ships together and painted them up and forgot about them for a month. Than I had a day off and thought how about that rigging. Oh God why did I do it. Because it looks ok at the end. I spent most of the day doing one with my sausage fingers. The second one was much quicker. Once you get going it’s a faster experience but God it’s tedious. Only 8 more to go. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Finished model. A bit ratty but it will do for first attempt at rigging.Finished model. A bit ratty but it will do for first attempt at rigging.

I'm convinced they do the job. You need multiple coats to get the right shade. It's a bit hit and miss.I'm convinced they do the job. You need multiple coats to get the right shade. It's a bit hit and miss.
