About the Project

I have decided to help keep my motivation, to do a weekly update of what I have been doing. This will hopefully stave off the fatigue of the never ending pile of potential, and also reassure me that I am sort of making progress. The project will have a range of miniatures from different genres such as kingdom death monster, burrows and badgers, moonstone, marvel crisis protocol, Star Wars shatterpoint and everything in between. The last count was about 850 miniatures, that need to be painted. Normally they are then stored away but at least they will be completed.

Four more models completed.

The little owl rogue from Burrows and Badgers.  The basing didn’t go well but it will do.

The panda monk from Scalebro.  I built it a few years ago and from what I remember it was a hit to build   I am missing the topknot and the bootle but I think it looks good without it.

The other 2 models are from Kingdom Death Monster.  The Tough Guy and the murder victim.

These three miniatures now take the total minis to paint to under 900.  Which is good I guess.

First images are the little owl rogue.

Next up should be some more Burrows & Badgers and some KDM.  But we will see.

I think I will focus on those two sets of miniatures for the next month or so, but will see what whimsy takes one’s fancy.

Well the number of unpainted miniatures increased this week with the arrival of the Barons War.  I also received the Mounted Serjeanrs as expected and unexpected the Mounted Knights that I had thought had been cancelled.  So sort of bonus but it is another 78 minis.

I think it is a future me problem as I don’t expect to look at them until next year.

This week I finished Bristlenose and Ribald the trolls for the Dominion in Moonstone. I did do a ‘tutorial’ on Bristlenose’s skin on my Moonstone project.  More pictures are available on that project for both minis.

Ribald Ribald

To help with numbers and to do something different I did some batch painting of some Tyranids.

I bought these when my nephew showed some interest in 40k, so I picked up the medium sized starter set.  In a year he has built 1 miniature, but on the plus side it does mean that I don’t have to play 40k, so it is not too bad.  But I thought I could get these done.

I did painted the larger miniatures some time ago but still had the 2 swarms and 20 grunts to complete.

Week 8

These were a quick wham bam to get some numbers completed.  If my nephew ever gets his Space Marines done, I will worry about the basing.

Next up will likely be the Panda monk from scalebro, some kingdom death monster, or some Burrows and Badgers.  We will see what whimsy takes my fancy.

Here’s hoping I don’t find any other miniatures that I have forgotten about.

This week I went back to some Moonstone miniatures and the Goblins.

All the goblins are now complete and to finish the Faction I just need to finish the Bristlenose and Ribald the trolls.

It may be 6 more models but I should be getting 66 more models from my barons war order delivered this week and I have found a few models I hadn’t remembered about.

Also with Blood Bowl season 3 coming out, that will affect my numbers but probably not until the end of the year.

This week I moved away from the Moonstone miniatures as I needed a rest from Moonstone.

I completed the Murderer from KDM and a Necron Doom Scythe from 40K.

A few issues with both models.

The Doom Scythe I am basing it on a scheme I used on a Necron force I painted a few years ago.  Also, for some reason I primed it using a brush a few years ago and it wasnt a great job. I also then for some reason decided to do the green before painting the major colour.

This is the sample miniature This is the sample miniature

For the Murderer I tried a new scheme for the skin tone starting with a more brown base colour.   It could have turned out better but it seems to be OK.

I also think I should have gone for a darker tone on the murder victim as I think it now stands out too much.

Not sure why the photos are upside down

Still keeping this project going.

A few more things completed this week.  Some I am happy with, and some I am not but all are good enough to move on.

First up are the Kingdom Death miniatures.  These four are all from the same set of Echoes of Death 4.

The boxer

The archer mage

The novice

  1. The paladin

I did have a worry when painting this one that I wasn’t following the proper scheme.  Also that  am not taking into account the lanterns and that as the light source.

However, I remember that they are my miniatures and I can do whatever I want with them.

I do seem to be struggling with the goblin skin so will try a few more and the probably put that project on hold for a while.

Although, next up are El Capitan from moonstone and The murderer from KDM.

I also completed a few more goblins for Moonstone.  The Lloyd shots can be found in my other ongoing project about Moonstone.

And my Burrows and Badgers order has arrived so can officially be added to my list of unpainted miniaturesAnd my Burrows and Badgers order has arrived so can officially be added to my list of unpainted miniatures

Mid week update

I reviewed my Outstanding Hobby spreadsheet and realised that there were some mistakes.

I left off a few purchases, and based on those and some outstanding orders I will have close to 900 miniatures needing painting.

Based on my recent progress that means I may catch up by Summer of 2028.

Mid week update

This means that I now have a block on buying any new miniatures(yeah right), the only exception will be any official GW blood bowl teams or star players.

On the plus side I also finished the KDM paladin so that took the number down by one.

This is becoming a habit.

I am also starting to make a little headway into the pile of potential.  The problem now is I realised I hadnt added two box sets onto my spreadsheet and have bought the recent Burrows and Badgers starter sets as a reward.

Guess I am going to promise myself I will not but anything else – I am sure I will stick to that.

Next up is Portly Pete from Moonstone

I have also started Seasick Stu and the Paladin

Just a quick update with my non-anal spreadsheet of outstanding minis.

Technically it is now less than 700 as I haven’t received the Barons war stuff yet.  So that means I am not actually a middle-aged war gamer yet as I haven’t painted or played historical yet.

This list doesn’t contain any Kickstarter I have filed away in the loft or things I have earmarked for practice pieces for relatives to practice on.
