What’s New From Catalyst Games – Win Dragonfire!

We got to talk with Catalyst Games to find out what goodies they have here at the show include their new deckbuilding D&D game called Dragonfire.

This is a game that I (Ben) am very interested by but it might be a bit too big for me to actually put in my suitcase!

However, one of you lucky folk might walk away with a copy of this game by commenting below on the video!

We also talk about what else in the cards for them so watch this one with interest.

Ooooh I do love me some deckbuilders. And the theme is certainly appealing! 🙂 I’ll keep an eye on this one!

goban

Must get the battle-mech manual.

rgreenparadox

As the curators of Shadowrun and Battletech I love Catalyst games. I hope the current harmony gold lawsuit doesn’t cause them too much grief. I love dungeon crawlers so Dragonfire would be right up my alley.

kbog

Been waiting on the Battletech Manual, an updated mech based rulebook – Loverly.

warjack92

deckbuilding games are great!

hairybrains

Dragonfire looks interesting, and you got a love a bit of battletech

bloodshadow

This looks good.

noyjatat

Another game I havent heard about. Looking forward to seeing more of this one.

iceeagle85

Dragonfire sounds interesting.

blackspiral

More Battletech please!

lordbob

Never played Crossfire but heard good thing about it. Dragonfire certainly got me interested.

gobbo

I love Catalyst. They always have good stuff!

machinegod

Love deck building games with great art!

tachycardia

Dragonfire might be a good backup game when we have no shows and can’t run D&D in our group.

macadams00

Looks interesting

wardawg

BattleTech is such a great IP. Assault is an interesting twist. What’s next?

jmrecoil

So how about a Demo game of Dragonfire Ben????

alfonsothetraitor

The Shadow run new stuff sounds fun.

turbocooler

YYYYeeeeeessssss! Thanks for this segment guys — so excited for this game. It seems to be really well done!! I pre-ordered and cannot wait.

ghent99

Hey Jason,

The outfit really came together!

Let’s get some Shadowrun love going here at beasts.

felfeni

Hope the success of Dragonfire will also help Shadowrun 🙂

sakoguru

Shadowrun Crossfire is a great (and brutally hard) game. I love it. D&D flavor of it sounds amazing.

siygess

Brutally hard is right! I hope their “improvements” include a less brutal approach to scenarios in Dragonfire! Difficult is fine, but man, Crossfire would *start* by kicking you in the nuts and the run would only get worse from there!

Good to hear there was a Battletech presence and I’m looking forward to getting the new manual. Too bad there wasn’t any news on the Battletech boxed set re-prints. I’d love more details on when we can expect it, and exactly what it will contain in terms of miniatures.

comoran

True!

duster

Never been into deck building games too much but Crossfire could do it. Seems nice.

phoen31

Dragonfire sounds like a really good idea, thanks for showing this off I had no idea. Who isn’t in the mood for a little MORE Shadowrun/ Battletech stuff. Keep it up!

babone

Like the idea of deck building dnd. I hope it is good.

eddator227

Lots on the plot of shadowrun two hackers trying to be better than others, like in his early steps within the internet. Just we days back found my battletech with his plastic mechas and want to playit someday.

kerris21

Love Crossfire and really excited about this variant but please let it be easier. Crossfire is brutal

kerris21

Love Crossfire and really excited about this variant but please let it be easier.

jabberwok13

Deck building D&D? Sounds interesting.

lawnor

Whats wrong with wearing a cloak any time of the year.

cybermonkey

Ok, that looks great. I’m going to be looking into this game.

fettmonger

Dragonfire sounds really interesting and right up my alley. I haven’t heard much about it. Time to do some web searching.

darkdanegan

Once the underpants are all used they can be thrown away to make room in the suitcase, don’t you worry!

zarg1

Dragonfire the card game? I hope the cards are made of something fire resistant.

naj9443

Sounds great!

draker

I like it so much, gonna try it. Thanks for the video, never would have known about it without it probably.

nyilus27

Love deckbuilding games, however hadn’t heard of Catalyst before, so going to be looking into their games a bit more.

fireblarney

I do enjoy both deckbuilding and D&D sound like a good match to me.

hazyboy75

Looks interesting

uezguersmaster

Quick, easy to get into and Master of Orion in one sentence. That sounds weird. 😉
Would love to see more of this.

tmon

Dragonfire looks interesting!!

kadmon

Looks great!

lunchbox

OOo D&D deckbuilding sounds fun.

szuhayeva

Beautiful!

lorcannagle

Shadowrun Crossfire is insane fun, especially once you get good enough to not lose every run! I love that they’re folding Dragonfire’s improvements into the Prime Runners edition of Crossfire, and doing a free download to cover the changes for those of us who have the original to boot!

jahatch28

Really interested in Dragonfire! Looks great and sounds like a perfect intro game for those who aren’t quite role-players yet!

hargarpad

This was great!

harald0skald

Dragonfire is cool!

falerox

I’d love Dragonfire! 🙂

harigeri

Color me interested!

theticky

battle tech for the wen been playing since the 80s love it

orku

This is awesome! How could i missed this one!?

stormshriek

I’ve heard nothing but good things about this. A lot of people have talked about how hard the Shadow run version is and because of that I’ve never picked it up. This one seems a bit more forgiving.

mliguori

I seem to rememeber seeing info about this game on the site and being confused why I hadnt heard about it before, then I forgot about it again. Maybe this time it’ll stick.

hackareatech

Never heard of these, but I love deck building.

warfield

If it’s based on Crossfire, it’s worth a look

jamjarst

Any chance we could see Dragonfire played?

fujouri

As a long-time die-hard Shadowrun fan I picked up Crossfire and… decided that the deckbuilding mechanics were really cool. And the Shadowrun art was really cool (a lot of it reused, of course). But I never felt like the theme was really there. I wasn’t playing as a Street Samurai… being a Street Samurai just dictates your starting hand.

I don’t hold that against the game. Deckbuilders are notoriously generic. (Just look at how many different worlds/themes Upper Deck can slap on their Legendary system.) And I think that means a slightly generic fantasy world will fit a lot better with this system.

arrrgh

Can´t wait til christmas!
