Redvers and Son Get Into Bushido
Animated Militia
Just about all of the characters in Bushido are unique but there are a few non-unique models that can be bought as a group. The Animated Militia are one such example with the game card allowing you to take up to four of these models. The stats are all the same for these skeletons and they are as cheap as chips. If Bushido has chaff, this is it. Use them to slow down your opponent and soak up their main model’s Activation counters.
You don’t get much game wise here, with only 2 melee dice (3 is the common mid point) and no Ki feats, expectations need to be low. They have two important traits being Durable (only take a maximum of 1 wound on any attack) and Regenerate (gain a wound back at the end of the round). But they also have a flaw in that any attack against them has the Critical Attack ability – a damage roll of a double instantly kills them. Still, for 5 points each, what more do you want?
I painted them all together and used the same approach – this made sense given that they are a group. The bone was painted as per the other skeletons, German Black Brown base, a wet brush of light brown, a light dry brush of bleached bone with a final highlight of Iraqi sand. I’ve then continued my experiment with speed paints, using a moss green on the clothing. This then got a light green dry brush. The purple smoke started as before with a mid purple base but then I reversed the shading, with a dark purple wash and a light purple highlight. All in all, a fairly quick paint job.
