Finished up the miniature for the tortle cleric I am playing in a campaign. The miniature is from DarkSword miniatures.
The race comes from a tropical region so I wanted the base to get that across. I also took some time to paint on a scar in keeping with the characters background.
I wanted to use resin water on the base to give the impression of the tide coming in around the model. This was my first time using resin and I am generally really pleased with how it turned out. I painted some blues and greens on to the sand where the resin was going and tinted the resin to help with the illusion of depth. My test pour went great. The actual pour was a disaster! The resin burst the seams and seeped around so I had to use a second layer of resin. The stuff was bloody everywhere. It took me forever to file and cut it off. It did something weird to the front of the base where it pulled off a small section. For a first attempt, I am generally happy with it and looking forward to playing it on the tabletop.

Paint job looks good, although I’d reccomend making the sand darker so that it looks wet.
Is it just me, or does him using a shell as a shield look a bit…morbid? It’d be like a human wearing a leather onesie made from their mate’s skin. ?
Or like a human warrior holding a shield made of bones, in that sense, it’s all the more badass. Cool looking piece regardless 🙂
That is one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. Looks spectacular!
this looks awesome 🙂 wouldn’t mind picking one of these up myself now 🙂
