A spring clean of my old Martian Empires collection with the hope of taking my forces from Earth to Mars and adding some as senery

Finding inspiration
The Martian Empires game contains no real background they assume you got the game because you like H G Wells and Boroughs. I decided to look at the League of extraordinary gentlemen for visual references for the giant tribal Martians

Going to work on this artillery piece over the weekend pulled by a six legged hexasaur
Tribal Martians arrive
I picked up the tribal Martians army pack from Fighting 15s for Martian Empires. Big chunk of lead.
I'm tackling the Infantry first. These guys are straight out of John Carter of Mars. In the game a unit is six 40mm stands each with three minis in them. I'm going to do a stand a day
Each mini has four arms and you can give them s selection of weapons. I'm finding this a bit fidly. You have to open up the hands more to be more Lego like to fit the oversized weapons.
Get your ass to Mars
I had a funny thought that once the martians are vanquished the Victorians will have all this red weed growing about the place. I'm sure some enterprising industrialist would find a good use for it. Stick it in tour pipe and smoke it. Colonial mars will be all the rage to get the population on board with the idea of taking on the martians on their home turf.Armies on parade
So I've finished repairs to my two armies and created some scenery so the spring clean aspect of this project is at an end. The next phase is to add to my collection and take it to after war of the world's and man's invasion of Mars.
Our Martian overlord
The game has a Martian HQ commander but the mini is just a weaponless Martian and doesn't look like s command model so I'm throwing together a few bits from my spares to create a little hover dais.
