Mantic Games Unveils First Ghost in the Shell RPG Miniatures Ahead of BackerKit Campaign
July 20, 2026 by avernos
Mantic Games has given fans their first look at the official miniature range for The Ghost in the Shell: Tabletop Roleplaying Game, revealing three iconic members of Section 9 ahead of the game's BackerKit launch on 28 July. The new MasterCraft™ Resin miniatures are designed to accompany the upcoming RPG, bringing some of Shirow Masamune's most recognisable characters to the tabletop in stunning detail.
Based on the original Ghost in the Shell manga and officially licensed by Kodansha, the tabletop RPG sees players take on the role of new Section 9 recruits, investigating cybercrime, tackling terrorism, and navigating a world where cybernetics, artificial intelligence, and political intrigue collide. The game has been designed by industry veterans Alessio Cavatore and Zak Barouh, with today's announcement shining the spotlight firmly on the premium miniatures that will accompany the experience.

No Ghost in the Shell collection would be complete without Major Motoko Kusanagi, and she's the headline reveal in today's teaser. Section 9's legendary full-body cyborg commander has become one of science fiction's most recognisable characters, and her miniature captures the calm confidence and tactical precision fans have come to expect. With crisp sculpted details and a dynamic pose, it's an impressive centrepiece for collectors, painters, and players alike.
Major Motoko Kusanagi
Joining the Major is her trusted partner Batou, Section 9's veteran investigator and one of the unit's most formidable operatives. Instantly recognisable thanks to his signature cybernetic eyes, Batou has long been a fan favourite, combining brute force with military experience and unwavering loyalty. His miniature perfectly reflects that battlefield presence and should prove just as popular with hobbyists as with Ghost in the Shell fans.

Also joining the Section 9 Miniatures Pack is Chief Daisuke Aramaki, the veteran leader whose political experience and strategic mind keep Section 9 operating from the shadows. Having realised his long-held ambition of creating the organisation, Aramaki expertly navigates government bureaucracy while protecting his agents and ensuring they have the freedom to tackle threats others cannot. His miniature is a fitting tribute to the mastermind behind Section 9's operations.

One of the most grounded members of Section 9, Togusa joins the miniature line, bringing a different perspective to the elite unit. Recruited from the police rather than the military, Togusa's strong moral compass and investigative instincts have made him an invaluable operative, even as he balances the dangerous demands of Section 9 with life as a family man. Fans of the manga will no doubt appreciate seeing this fan-favourite agent represented in miniature form.

The final human addition revealed for the Section 9 Miniatures Pack is Saito, the team's quiet but deadly marksman. A former mercenary, Saito provides long-range support with pinpoint accuracy thanks to his cybernetic sniper eye, preferring to let his actions speak louder than words. His specialist role makes him an essential member of Section 9, and his miniature rounds out an impressive selection of iconic characters from the Ghost in the Shell universe.

Rounding out the reveal is the unmistakable Fuchikoma, the agile AI-powered Think Tank that has become one of the franchise's most beloved creations. Equal parts heavily armed combat machine and surprisingly philosophical companion, the Fuchikoma's intricate mechanical design looks packed with detail, making it a standout painting project as well as an iconic addition to any Ghost in the Shell collection.

Together, these six characters demonstrate that the Section 9 Miniatures Pack is aiming to capture the heart of Ghost in the Shell rather than simply offering a handful of protagonists. From frontline operatives and elite snipers to the organisation's veteran commander and the iconic Fuchikoma, the range already looks set to appeal to roleplayers, painters, collectors, and long-time fans of Shirow Masamune's cyberpunk classic alike.
The Ghost in the Shell: Tabletop Roleplaying Game launches on BackerKit on 28 July, where fans will be able to follow the campaign for pre-launch exclusives and future reveals. With an officially licensed RPG, premium resin miniatures, and the promise of more Section 9 characters still to come, Mantic Games looks set to deliver one of the most exciting licensed tabletop releases of the year for both cyberpunk fans and miniature collectors.
