About the Project

I have decided to help keep my motivation, to do a weekly update of what I have been doing. This will hopefully stave off the fatigue of the never ending pile of potential, and also reassure me that I am sort of making progress. The project will have a range of miniatures from different genres such as kingdom death monster, burrows and badgers, moonstone, marvel crisis protocol, Star Wars shatterpoint and everything in between. The last count was about 850 miniatures, that need to be painted. Normally they are then stored away but at least they will be completed.

Week 2

At least my project has lasted longer than I thought it would.

Over the last week I have ‘completed’ 2 models but built 10 more.  Unless my maths is wrong, that currently puts my at -8 after 2 weeks.  Sigh.

The first completed model is Brunhilde from Moonstone.  I have not yet decided on any basing as I am waiting until all the models painted and completed for a faction before basing.

The sole exception are the shades as I know what I am doing for those but I don’t plan on painting those any time soon.

The second model was the archer from KDM.

The final job isn’t one I am completely happy with but it will do.

The next two models I pick up to paint are Natty from Moonstone and the normal sized Bone Eater from KDM.

For the ‘Lloyd’ shot of the Bone Eater check out below the midriff for an unnecessary detail.

As a reward for booking a holiday with my girlfriend I bought something I actually wanted.  The Yoroni one player starter set for Conquest

While I do not expect to play the game, at some point in the future I will get round to painting these and as they have the Japanese feel, it will hopefully encourage a different colour scheme.

For next week, the aim is to complete the 2 WIP miniatures and start a few more.

  1. There are a few other reasons for doing this project.
  2.  If there is any feed back especially about colour choices it would be welcomed (within reason).  Although any comments about mold lines will be ignored.
  3. I often plan and experiment with things and then promptly forget what I did – age I guess.   As an example see the image below

A coupe of months ago, I wanting to figure the best colour for a Blood Bowl team skin colouration.

I knew it was going to be a mostly Caucasian skin tone and wanted to avoid using a wash if I could.

So I painted the 5 miniatures with slightly different approaches but mainly just using the stand GW skin colours of Bugmans, Cadian, and Kislev.  As the models were essentially naked and larger than normal it gave me a good amount of material to work on.

Unfortunately, I didn’t note what I did with each model which essentially made the entire exercise pointless except I completed 5 models

The current models are Brunhilde from Moonstone, and Bowmaster of Deadrock from KDM.

They are coming along, Brunhilde is mostly complete and the Bowmaster is getting there.

I have recently been doing multiple models at the same time as it helps as a cleanser when I get stuck for inspiration on a model.

So lets see how many weeks I can keep this going.
