You are wrong about the mail, it is just terrible, and the main reason I stay away from Victrix… which is a shame as their none mail figures are lovely – I particularly like their Samnites, for example.
I do love the monk, though.
I would agree with Robert on this one
how am I wrong?
its the mail links. There just too big
and what did I say that makes that wrong?
“it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but paints up well and does the job”
what in that statement is wrong
does it look like plate? Or is it a buff coat? would you mistake it for a naked Viking.
Wrong how?
Details below
It doesn’t paint up nice, it still looks shit when painted. It looks like silver honeycomb, which doesn’t look look like chain mail.
Well, I think Gerry’s right!
“36 figures is a small bag! Just shows how great historics is”.
Pretty much says it all, with other great plastics from the Perrys (between 36-42 figures for £20), and ofc these from Victrix it’s hard to see the justification for the “sci-fi/fantasy tax” on other ranges of plastics. The minis are a good (if not better in some cases) as many of the latter offerings.
I must admit it’s Vitrix for the Ancients through to Dark ages, and Perrys for everything after (I still love the posing and proportions of the Perry WW2 plastics over the more popular Warlord, as these don’t suffer from the GW hands and oversized weapons). I must admit Warlord are starting to get a bit pricey for historical plastics (coming in at almost a quid a figure for their WW2 ranges), but it’s nothing compared to the £2-£5 per figure we see for many sci-fi and fantasy ranges (why do these genres attract this “tax”, I’m not just talking about GW here).
It’s probably why historicals IS the best (if only they would pantograph the 25mm figures down to 15mm I’d be ecstatic), and the minis are a good if not better (these armoured Huscarls and the unarmoured Saxons along with the Viking ranges would be perfect for games like Oathsworn at a fraction of the price of the “fantasy” versions)
It isn’t a “tax”, it is simple market forces and different price elasticities of demand between the different markets, which I suspect is due to the lack of product differentiation in the historical market.
Good job on the video. You covered the product well and showed some very playable miniatures. Thank you
Looks like a good kit to fill out a Warlords or Erehwon or Oathmark Humans, maybe even KoW troops
a good looking unit its nice that the priest can double as a lollypop man.
