World War II 1941 US Infantry Joins 1st Corps Historical Collection

1st Corps has introduced several new sets to its 28mm Historical collection for use in your World War II wargames. This time, the focus is on the United States and a selection of miniatures dressed in the 1941-style jackets that the soldiers would have been wearing at the time.

There are a couple of new basic sets that you can pick from. There are two sets of basic US Infantry wearing those 1941-style jackets, armed with both Garands and Carbines. This gives you a good basis for a fighting force of the United States in your World War II games, perhaps being added alongside different 28mm scale figures from other designers.

You get a good mix of poses within both sets. Some of the soldiers are rushing forward, others are taking aim, some are kneeling for a better shot and others are hesitating for a moment to keep an eye on enemy movement. The Garand is one of the most iconic and recognisable weapons from World War II and I would imagine many of us have used them in games like Call of Duty, Brothers in Arms and Medal of Honor. That iconic "ting" as the magazine ejects is both awesome and a bit of a godsend for any enterprising German soldier!
You can also get a set of additional soldiers in the same 1941-style jackets with the similarly iconic BAR.

Keep the enemy pinned down with a bit of automatic fire from your BAR and make sure that your fellow soldiers have some time to advance or dash between cover. Again, you get some good posing options here to include in various squads. I like the fellow who's kneeling and firing, although I think someone might want to step on the other end of his barrel and bend it back into shape. Easily done.
Last but not least, you've got some NCOs that you can pick up and fit into your 1941-themed US Infantry force.

You can tell that they are in charge (sort of) because they're all bellowing something and I don't imagine that they went to many HR meetings to regulate their language. I love the fellow on the left who is clearly shouting at some greenhorn who is doing something incredibly stupid. He looks like he's in that moment before he storms over to give them a whack on the back of the head.
This gives you a good selection of new miniatures for use in your US force for World War II wargames. The two squads, NCOs and the BAR set give you a solid basis to build from when crafting a 1941-era-specific US force on the tabletop.
What do you make of these new metals from 1st Corps?

I did a side-by-side of a Lee-Enfield and a Garand in real life; the Lee-Enfield was more accurate, the Garand obviously faster. Grouping the Enfield was a breeze, the Garand the instinct was “get to the ting”. Which is REALLY rewarding and enjoyable as the clip ejects 🤣
