Some magnificent anorakery there. Meant as a compliment of course.
A nice looking instant game in a box very nice.
Would love to see them two do a battle report though.
Nice presentation. The nice thing for everyone that is already into Bolt Action is that the Play Sheet is downloadable from Warlord Games. Look here for the PDF http://www.warlordgames.com/updated-bolt-action-faq-playsheet/
Great video guys and really can’t wait for more Bolt Action on BoW. Maybe a FTW type show can be put together.
Rulebook in spanish ? I need it because my father has near zero English skills and i’ll buy it just to play it with him.
Something Strange I’ve seen is that if you are the German player you are in a bit of a situation. You can either use the Half track or the Infantry because the Half track can’t do anything without a squad in it and the squad can only fire from the MG of the Half track.
Yes. But the Germans can’t be killed by the yanks whilst in the hannomag. You can also run over the enemy.
I think they should really retool their German/American/British kits to have more reasonable head sizes and less breakable weapons, sort of like they did with their more recent early-war German kit.
Justin someone does pin markers like that mdf. A few of the pads I play with have them.
After a bit of trial and error with pin markers, I just use dice now. Its easier to know the level of pinning just at a glance.
how about a BA FTW with Justin and the TankGod?!
John. Saving private Ryan was 1998. You young pup.
Whooops! I may be young but the brain is pushing on apparently.
Hope this works
Time line Miniatures does those exact pin markers you guys were talking about i have some and im going to glue the metal pin markers that you get from warlord on top of these markers so that each faction will have there own pins.
perfect bud! ^.^ will be grabbing these asap! 🙂
I am sure nothing can beat my pin markers… the slightly-smaller-than-GW-Green dices from warlord games are perfect for this. You see the pins really clearly (the dots are White), they do not disturb (as they are Green), and you just need one dice for each six pin markers…
I use large red dice (from the craps tables in Las Vegas which can be purchased in the gift shop for something like a quarter a piece) as pin makers. You just rotate to the amount of pins and you have a noticeable and easy to read pin marker.
This looks like a great set to get into the game. I like that everything is included to have a quick game and learn the rules. Love the scenario booklet. This has made it onto the Christmas wish list.
One question, “Does the rule book state which weapons each squad should have, or are there choices?”
I agree with @dignity about the artwork in that small-format rule book. I guess this is what happens when you partner up with Osprey. 🙂
That quick reference sheet looks very handy, too. One thing I **hate** is a lot of clutter, books, etc scattered across a beautiful terrain table. You put in all that work on the table, now you have rule books laid across it? is that gigantic rule book 28mm as well? Augh!
So how do I find out about historically accurate section loadouts and make-ups?
They are in each forces’ army book mate.
Another little tidbit I found on the Warlord website that works with one of the (many) subtopics in the video.

Enjoy
Beasts, keep the Bolt Action content coming! Your demo game got me hooked after all 😛
Maybe it should be renamed ‘Stitch-Counters: For the Weave!’
Nice review though to be honest I prefer the other starter set – Assault On Normandy – as I think it is more balanced. If you want halftracks and tanks – lots and lots of those available now in sets like Armoured Fist and Panzergrenadier as well as the Armoured Fury (naming coincidence? Hmmm) and sets of three tanks for the Tank War rules.
I think along with the release of Armoured Fury Bolt Action starter sets, these two starter sets are a great way of getting into both aspects of Bolt Action.
Also when combined together, they can be used as reinforcements, or as a full mechanised force battles. Hats off to Warlord for providing two good starter sets, that can combine and promote their game.
Btw is the scenario sheet from D-day Firefight starter box set available in pdf?
If it had shown in the summary who were presenting this video I would have watched it sooner. Doesn’t matter if it’s sci-fi or historical, John and Justin make a good team.
Not playing the game (yet?) but still very entertaining and informative to watch.
Perhaps the guys from Bolt Action should hire John to create a little video tutorial to go with each kit, explaining what all the little pieces are so we won’t make stupid mistakes building them. 🙂
Very, very minor nit-pick. John said the M1 Carbine fired a 5.x mm round. It fires the .30 Carbine round which is a 7.62x44mm round. The bullet is the same diameter as the M1 Garand, BAR, M1903 Springfield, etc (30-06 or 7.62×63) but is shorter. The case is also much shorter, so less velocity and power.
