Thanks for the un-boxing. That looks like a really nice set and a lot of fun. I’m kicking myself for missing it.
Yeah I’m with you. That Biohazard level was such an amazing deal, too..
Nuts.
The figures are really nice despite the shrinkage that knocks the scale off slightly.
The rules need more work, but that work is currently being done as we speak.
The game boards are horrible. Miss cut, different sizes that are too big for the box they come in, printed too dark and on the cheapest most nastiest fecking textured card stock in the universe.
Damn, that lack of an edit button.
Meant to also say, that even with the box sets faults. I’m still happy that I own 2 of them.
You are forgiven of you sins. You may live 😛
Its a great looking game, and the level of detail on the models is really really nice !
My only gripe, which was relatively minor, was with the unit cards… in the kickstarter videos they showed various players using paperclips to keep track of the damage done to the various models…but never seemed to have actually rolled out something inlcuded in the box.. being a board game, you should really be able to play without requiring any outside elements.. like I said… minor… I’ll probably just stick them in card sleeves like my warmachine cards and use white board pens..
Wonder how many times I can say “thermantic” in the next video… and is that even a word?
thematic was where you were aiming I’d wager.
thermantic sounds like a Ronnie Renton themed Thermos flask.
Well done, guys, an enjoyable unboxing! As said before, I applaud the addition of new presenters, a likeable bunch so far with good attitude. A bit of (hopefully) constructive criticism, though:
First, I’m not too sure if three guys are required to talk about a single box – unless there are different opinions or thoughts added to the discussion.
Second and consequently, while I like your enthusiasm for the game, let’s not omit the issues there. While promoted as a board game, this is clearly aimed at the wargaming market: fiddly bits, comparatively clunky rules and lacking production values (misprinted boards, no assembly guides, no inserts or bags for storage) won’t appeal to an awful lot of boardgamers, but are perfectly acceptable for the wargaming crowd. If you start talking about gameplay and design in an unboxing vids, give such things a mention.
And lastly, showcasing some assembled miniatures (not just PR shots) was greatly appreciated. Please keep that! However, please reconsider the setup of your close cam. Maybe a bird eye’s view would be better to show unassembled stuff or additional gaming pieces (the game boards here would certainly be worth close inspection). Take a look at the older unboxing vids (from John’s era), that’s a preferable setting.
Anyway, as always, I enjoyed the show, especially as it wasn’t about GW stuff or stats values. 😉 Looking forward to what you’re coming up with next.
The reason there were three people involved in the unboxing may become clearer on Wednesday when there may be a follow up!
At some point I’ll learn which direction to move my hands around the close cam view as well.. often get the whole “up is down and down is up” bit confused.. : )
must have this game must have this game must have this game….. When it be out on general release?
According to the website, it should be on general release very very shorlty (it states Jan, but I reckon they’ve overshot a bit with the kickstarter orders, so we’re looking at Feb as being more likely)
Again, great review guys. Thanks you for showing us. Looks like a very good game. I may buy one. I bought a couples of studio McVeay figurines and really love the quality. I have been waiting for some time now for the game. I am gonna get a copy for my self.
Gav/anateus, just to be clear: I wasn’t aiming at some misplaced items under close cam. With a bit of practice on camera that’s going to be fixed soon. 😉 What I meant was a different angle for the camera, which can handle miniatures lying on a flat surface. As I said, bird eye’s view might do the trick.
In any case, thanks for your reply!
Two close cams would be the way to go I think.
One for the zoomed in close stuff and one for the slightly less zoomed in broader stuff.
nicly done. cool to see the newbees grt used to the set so fast
Looking forward to the batrep and hopefully Gav doesn’t have to walk down too many dark alleys on his way home with the box.
I am gutted I missed this kickstarter, but hey you still get lots of groovy stuff in the retail box, right?
50 models, 6 boards, tons of counters and play cards… yeah there’s loads in the box to keep you busy… : )
