Interesting review (although you didn’y manage to get any shots of the sprue in this time Gerry). I must admit I didn’t get into the first version of the game as the metal “gangs” Footsore released were all a bit tooled up for a Roman Street gang (with gladius, armour and shields etc). As you said the gangs needed to feature no armour, knives/daggers, clubs, knuckledusters (there was a spiked Roman version) and even rocks to throw rather than archers. As your gang members might need to hide within a mob, they are going to be pretty easy to spot if they are running around in gladiator gear. It looks like there’s more options to make these lightly armed gangers in this plastic set.
But I’d also agree a full HISTORICAL box of plastic Gladiators would be ideal (allowing you to build up the distinct Gladiator types found in the arenas, not just for the revolt but for straight forwards Gladiator gaming for Sons of Mars etc (I don’t think anyone’s done a full release of all the Gladiator types in metal, there were a couple of dozen with some being very similar or just representations of various conquered nations (Thracian, Gaul etc), never mind in plastic). Although many Gangs of Rome players probably would be as grumpy grognardly as me and quite like to add bits of Gladiator weapons and armour to their gang fighters.
video fixed with the missing sprue bit, thanks for that otherwise it would’ve been completely missed
As Gerry said we need more. And perhaps some women and gladiators to add to the mix.???
@avernos Maybe they will put this digital set into plastic production https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-spartacus-revolt-gladiators-269932
that would be great
