New Command Groups & Characters For Fantasy Wargame, Warhost
July 2, 2026 by brennon
The team of Hobday & Hicks have been busy expanding on the miniatures range for their Fantasy wargame, Warhost, with some great new Command Sets for some of their factions as well as some great sets of characterful figures which help to expand the world of Warhost around the game.
Orc Command Set // Warhost
We start with a new set of miniatures from Paul Hicks for the Orcs. This Command Set focuses on the strong, martial command element of the Orc army and a place where might is right. The set comes with a bunch of fun miniatures which could be used to lead your warband on the tabletop.
You have the two Commanders who will be the core of any Command Group you build in the game of Warhost. The Banner Bearers are then vital to maintaining order on the battlefield and inspiring Orcs to fight harder. You then have one Musician with their War Horn and an Orc Shaman who can aid the Orcs with twisted, savage magic.
A really nice set of figures, packed with character and you'll see that throughout all the miniatures that have been released by Hobday & Hicks. Next up, we have the other side that led the way for Warhost, the Elves.
Elven Command Set // Warhost
As you'd expect, the Elves command armies with grace and calm, in sure knowledge that their skills, honed over hundreds of years, will get them through an oncoming battle. I think you get that in the style and the posing of these Elven Command Set miniatures, again from Paul Hicks.
The set comes with three Commanders who will be forming up those Command groups alongside two Banner Bearers and one Musician, much like the Orc Command Set. I like that there's an almost Samurai-level of martial discipline on display from these miniatures and that they don't just have swords. You've got some with spears/banners and that awesome commander with his axe. I do like an elf with an axe.
Characterful New Sets
As well as the Command Sets for the Orcs and the Elves, we also got more miniatures representing the Humans of the world of Warhost. The Humans of this world are split across seven kingdoms and so when you want to dish out authority in the Age of Fractured Crowns, you call on the Reckoners of the Circle.
Reckoners of the Circle // Warhost
These soldiers and enforcers carry the authority of the Circle around the world. They witness oaths made by others, record agreements made between communities, mark boundaries and set the limits of the law, oversee burials and the handling of the dead whilst often dealing with situations before they boil over into heated conflict.
It's a great set of characterful figures that feel like they have all been dragged from different walks of life to serve together. The kind of company of characters you'd find in a proper adventure tale.
Last but not least, we also have a characterful set of Elves sculpted by Paul Hicks. See what you think of the Elunara Wanderers.
Elunara Wanderers // Warhost
The Elunara Wanderers can be fielded as a unique Elven Oathband in your games of Warhost, or you can use them as allies to a Broken Warhost of Byland. The different members of the Wanderers each come with their own set of skills, which make them a force to be reckoned with.
If you're interested in their background, Hobday put together a great description of all of them and how they fit into the company...
- Caelreth of the Long Road: Oath Captain of the Elunara Wanderers, Caelreth calmly leads the company. He carries the authority of one who has lived long years of war and wandering. Now, he guides the Elunara as they march beside the Broken Warhost.
- Saeluin, Blade Singer: Saeluin is a warrior poet of House Scaethon. He brings grace and control to the battlefield. A skilled duelist, he advances with intent rather than aggression. His blade is drawn in defence of those fighting on in ruined Byland.
- Elarwen, Memory Keeper: Healer, chronicler, and keeper of names, Elarwen tends the wounded and remembers the fallen. She carries her tools into war, preserving histories of those who might otherwise be forgotten.
- Thandir, Dusk Scout: Thandir is the scout and pathfinder of the group. He moves ahead of the Wanderers and the Broken Warhost. He watches the ground, seeks safe routes, and warns of danger before it reaches the main body.
- Iriniel, Warden of Ash: Iriniel is the shield of the company. She stands where danger is greatest: steady, disciplined, and protective. She guards the living with sword and shield, holding the line when others begin to falter.
- Vaelith, Starbanner: Vaelith bears one of House Scaethon’s travelling banners. He carries a pale standard that has crossed centuries of road and war. For Byland’s people, he is Elunara's Starbanner, a sign their struggle will not be forgotten.
So cool. I can see a lot of people forming an Oathband behind these characters. I really like that there's still this DNA of Tolkien and Middle-earth in a lot of the designs from Hobday & Hicks for this project but it still feels very much their own world. The Elves and the Orcs could fit well into Middle-earth-themed games or the likes of Oathmark very easily as well as being great for their own game.
What do you make of these new Fantasy figures from Hobday & Hicks for Warhost?

Looking good. And a very distinct look from other ranges. Would fit in with WHFB or LOTR but doesn’t really look like “legally distinct” minis usually do. I approve.
