There stuff is utterly fantastic and I’d love to be able to buy shed loads of it, but I can’t. It’d all look absolutely great for my Anima Tactics games as well… ah well cest la vie!!!

Looks absolutely stunning. But for the price you could get the materials for three to five same sized buildings and build them yourself. The interior and the furniture on the other hand are harder to do by yourself.

Am all for scratchbuilding terrain, but to build to this level of quality and character would take a lot of time and effort.

It depends how much you cheat, certainly it’ll take a lot longer than preparing and painting resin but if you use blocks of pink insulating foam you an either make the rough shape from large pieces and score the brickwork and wood grain in with a pallet knife or if you’re a glutton for punishment cut it up into tiny bricks and beams and assemble it that way, once you’re done you need to paint it with a brush or a pump airbrush though since the propellant in aerosols melts the foam.

In regards to aerosols melting foam, you can prevent this with texturing or masking tape. I use ready mixed wall filler and PVA glue. Mix these up and paint the areas that need painting. If you use fine grade filler you can actually paint the whole piece with it. Gives a nice finish for drybrushing.

I’m also all for scratchbuilding. My point was that in my mind the Table Top World’s resin pieces are more directed to competition painters and diorama makers. Of cource you can use them for wargaming, but the price is pretty steep for just one (very nice) building. And of course the amount of terrain you need depends largely on the game you play 🙂
