Spectre Miniatures Add New North Korean Sets To Their Range
April 29, 2026 by brennon
Spectre Miniatures has added two new sets of figures to their collection for those fighting out battles in the warzones of the modern day and perhaps even the near future with the North Koreans. Check out the two options for you to dive into below...
KPA Infantry Squad // Spectre Miniatures
We start with the KPA Infantry Squad, which represents the core fighting force of the Korean People's Army. Their kit has recently gone through a bit of modernisation, moving away from the World War II and Cold War equipment to look a bit more modern in design.
This ten-man squad is equipped in the same style as a Russian or Chinese rifle squad but instead armed with what the North Koreans would have access to. Here, they are carrying the Type 88 rifle plus additional support in the form of two RPK-74s. They have the unique North Korean "casket" magazines, which mark them out as different from similar armaments.
They don't quite have the weaponry to deal with armour and to represent that, two squad members have Rifle Grenades (PGN-60 anti-tank and KGN Fragmentation).
If the KPA Infantry Squad isn't enough to help out on the battlefield, then you can also get the North Korean Worker-Peasant Militia to fill in the gaps.
North Korean Worker-Peasant Militia // Spectre Miniatures
This organisation was founded based on the shortage of troops that followed the withdrawal of Chinese forces that had aided during the Korean War in 1958. It grew to a strength of 500,000 members, who were drawn from workers, farmers, intellectuals and students.
The organisation has since grown in size and scope. In 1962, the organisation included men from the age of eighteen to forty-five and then women aged eighteen to thirty-five. In 1971, it expanded even more and the age went up to fifty amongst the ranks of the Workers and Peasants Red Guard, with other men and single women from seventeen to sixty then brought in apart from those not on prison guard duty.
The fighters seen here are armed with a mixture of different weapons in which they would have little training. You have a mix of Type-58, Mosin-Nagants, Type-49, RPG-2, DP-27 and RPDs, for example, that means they wouldn't look out of place fighting during the Korean War or a more modern conflict.
This is certainly a unique set of miniatures for use in your modern clashes on the tabletop but one that could be interesting for those What If? scenarios...
