He. Is. Groot.
I had way more fun painting him than I thought I would. I originally planned on giving him a very basic paintjob consisting mostly of drybrushing, but as I got going I just got more and more lost in the process and just kind of enjoyed the journey. Really happy with how he turned out.

Guardians of the Galaxy painted so far.
Finally finished up this faction. I wasn’t really invested in these characters, which is weird, cuz they are my favorite Marvel movies. Ironically, this means I painted them after I learned hard lessons with other models and hence they’re one of my better looking factions.
Still to be painted/released:
• None! (for now, anway)

Finished up Drax. Decided to just play around when painting his knives and boots and test out some NMM. Pretty happy with how they came out. Overall he was pretty fun to paint.

X-Force painted so far.
Faction is complete for now, but I did pick up secondary copies so I can have X-Force uniforms for everyone. Since that gave me an extra Domino and Sorastro put up a guide on painting her, I’ll be redoing her using his guide.
Still to be painted/released:
• None! (for now)
Planned repaints:
• Cable
• Domino
• Sabretooth
• Wolverine
Core Set Repaint - Red Skull
Painted my second copy of Red Skull this weekend. First time I got to try out using dark blues for highlighting black and I couldn’t be happier with how it came out. Looks so much better than my first time around. I really like having the first and second mini to compare. It really allows me to se see how far I’ve come and how much more detail I got out of the miniature on the repaint. Very cool experience.

X-Force is on the menu. Cable is painted.
Feels good to get painting again. Finished up all the recently released X-Force minis this weekend and started with Cable. He was really fun to paint, especially since I recently switched over to Scalecolor paints and I have to say, I’m completely sold on them. They go on so much smoother and blend together on the model so much better than any other brand I’ve painted with. Absolutely love them.
As far as Cable goes, I struggled a bit with the NMM on his arm and boots, but I was really happy with how his telekinetic field and explosions turned out. Although, in retrospect I think the OSL from the explosion is lacking, but that’s largely because I tried something different on Domino’s OSL and I think it looks much better. So although I just finished him, I might want to revisit him at some point. I’ll put up paint plans of each of the new minis at some other date.
