Now that I know which faction I’m wanting to get ready for 11th edition, I should probably start figuring out what I have exactly.

The collection of Tyranids started with the Leviathan launch box. I had purchased the Ultimate Starter Set as well. I figured it would be a great way to get more Terminators, Tyranids, and some terrain. Honestly, I think that purchase was more or less a stupid one, but no sense crying over spilt plastic glue.

Since then, I’ve added several extra troops and larger monsters to the horde. Let’s take a look.

Characters:

  • Broodlord (Not Pictured)
  • Deathleaper (Not Pictured)
  • Neurotyrant
  • Winged Hive Tyrant
  • Winged Tyranid Prime (x2)

Battleline:

  • Termagants (x40)

Others:

  • Barbgaunts (x10)
  • Biovores
  • Genestealers (x10)
  • Neurogaunts (x11)
  • Neurolictor
  • Norn Emissary
  • Psychophage (x2)
  • Ripper Swarms (x3)
  • Scream-Killer
  • Von Ryan’s Leapers (x6)

Why was the mummy such a horrible people person? Because they were too wrapped up in themselves.

You don’t start a Warhammer army for the current edition. You start it for the next edition, or even the one after that.

A friend gave me that nugget of information when I first started even contemplating getting into Warhammer 40,000. This was around the announcement of Indomitus.

Then a massive world event happened.

I don’t think I ever got a game of 9th edition in.

Then Leviathan (or 10th edition) came. I added the new Space Marines to the batch from Indomitus and then went to work building the Tyranid side of things.  Along the way, I’ve added a slew of more models, even managing to get a single model painted (and won a reward for it at Gen Con)!

I never managed to get a game of 9th edition in, though I did get a couple of Kill Team games in. For 10th edition, I actually got in two games. Both games, however, had zero painted models.

Going into 11th edition, I want that to change. I have several thousand points of Space Marines, thousands of points in Tyranids, and a various amount of Necrons. I decided to go with the Tyranids to bring my Hivefleet Samhain to the tabletop in full painted glory.

The next entry I’ll take stock of my army’s forces.

Since the Tyranids are all about monsters, how about some monster jokes?

Why did the two cyclops always get into a bar fight? Because they could never see eye to eye.
