Great series of stuff guys. I’m quite taken with the game and really want to give it a few trial runs to see if I can interest some of my regular players!
This has been a great week on BoW. Carnevale week has been packed with content, It’s Saturday night and I have finally seen all the vids.
2012 has certainly been the year of the skirmish game for me I have started two new games this year one of which I play quite regular and there are two more I know that are going to be released soon that I can’t wait to try.
Then along comes Carnevale week. I think I maybe starting another.
My accent filtered the dialog and prevented me from understanding the “geyser” discussion for too long. I kept envisioning a cranky old man randomly appearing.
“The geezer will immediately attack all models on both sides…” 😀
I love the campaign stuff. Reminds me of the old Necromunda days and I wish more games had similar systems.
Lol, me too; guys, it’s pronounced “gay-seer”, not “geezer”! 😀
Btw acrizer, there is a fair number of skirmish campaigning games like that out there;
Cutlass – pirates
Strange Aeons – Cthulhu mythos in the 20s
Empire of the Dead – Victorian fantasy and Gothic horror
Infinity – getting a campaign book published by the end of the year
Brink of Battle – historical “toolbox” rules with fantasy and sci-fi expansions in the makes
plus all the “indie” stuff, like Song of Blades and Heroes, Mutants and Death Ray Guns, Gangs of Nu Ork, Pike & Shotte & Zombies IIRC, …
And to top it all the GW’s former games, still probably their best products, like the Necromunda you mention, the Mordheim and in some sense, Blood Bowl.
I might have to look into some of those. Thanks for the quick list. Finding cool games both I and the girl can be enthusiastic about is always rewarding.
Well if you tell me a bit more about what you’re looking for (i.e. from standpoint of theme, official miniature lines, prefered rule mechanics) I may be able to help out a little bit (I spend way too much time reading about systems compared to playing them … :)).
P.S.: Marry your girl.
