Perry Miniatures 8mm Travelbattle Heads To The Lace Wars
May 4, 2026 by brennon
Perry Miniatures added to their range of 8mm miniatures for use with their Travelbattle rules as they took a leap into the Lace Wars with a new selection of metal figures for you to use in your games.
Travelbattle Lace Wars // Perry Miniatures
This new set of 8mm miniatures, sculpted by Alan and Michael Perry, covers the period of the "Lace Wars", which roughly covers the period of 1730 through to 1770. These are effectively converted from the original Travelbattle figures with a few additions here and there to make sure that they suit the period. This tends to come in their choice of headgear if nothing else!
8mm Infantry // Perry Miniatures
As with all of the Travelbattle range, the idea is that these 8mm figures are fairly generic in design so they could be used to represent various nations with a simple change of colour scheme.
8mm Cavalry // Perry Miniatures
This means that you'll be able to paint these troops to represent the likes of the French, British, Swiss, Austrians and much more. The core of the Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery above will give you everything that you need for your games of Travelbattle, replacing the Napoleonic figures with these Lace Wars alternatives for both sides.
8mm Artillery // Perry Miniatures
As well as doing the generic sets that you see above, Perry Miniatures have also created some more specific options for you to use in particular conflicts or to work as soldiers for a given nation.
French Dragoons // Perry Miniatures
Horse Grenadiers in Mitre Caps // Perry Miniatures
With that in mind, it means that you'll also be able to pick up packs that represent French Dragoons or Horse Grenadiers in Mitre Caps and even others in Mirlitons. They can also be used to represent cavalry from other countries if you decided to tweak the paint scheme.
Hussars in Mirlitons // Perry Miniatures
There are also some sets of specific infantry to go alongside the cavalry that you see above. Here you have the Grenadiers in Mitre Caps, which can be British but also Prussians, Russians, Swedes and many more nations for the period.

There are no specific rules that you need to play Travelbattle in the Lace Wars. The rules work just fine and you can make use of the existing plastic terrain and such as well. If you are interested in talking about more rules and updates, you can get in touch with Perry Miniatures over on social media and share. Maybe they'll look at adding them to a document so folks can use them in their own games.
You can find the entire Lace Wars range of 8mm metal miniatures HERE so head on over and start building up those armies!
What do you make of the new 8mm figures?

These look delightful!
Even though I’m not interested in historicals, this is a really cool idea.
