i would play eldar just for this unit. out of there entire line this is my favorite unit and this model is what got me in to warhammer, ironically i don’t play eldar though.
Same here. When I first laid eyes on this model I thought it was like the best model out there, but I found out as I later played warhammer that their were better models. Still in my top 10 models list though.
I might just buy one of these and paint it my Dark Eldar colour scheme. Use it’s stats and its rules (with soem subtle changes) and instead of soem of the weapons swap them for the Dark Eldar equivalent… would that work?
I use this model as a Chaos Space Marine Dread, the fluff is not that much different and it is probably my favorite model from GW
I used to use a wraithlord. They are nasty as it gets. Unless there is a powerfist or something like that in a unit regular marines can’t hurt wraithlords in close combat. High toughness and strength are great especially for eldar.
The problem is they draw way too much fire. Most people are scared of them with good reason. With no invulnerable save and only a 3+ armour save they go down pretty easy. You don’t get to take them in groups like carnifexes so you only get one per heavy choice. They only have 2 attacks so any combat they get into will take a few turns.
I haven’t used mine in a while because there are better options for eldar heavies. Now I use Dark Reapers (very good marine killers), a fire prism and a falcon. Reapers are small so they can’t be shot at by everyone like the wraithlord can and vehicles can absorb hits, move faster and falcons can transport 6 infantry.
Wraithlords are nice but they could be better. Even if all they got was an extra attack and/or an invulnerable save or 1-3 per heavy choice.
Nostalgia attack… I had a metal one as a kid…
