15, 20 and 28mm is a great idea…the figures are a mix of ok and a bit meh. I feel they work best at 15mm but are also ok for 20mm…not sure some of the poses are good at 28mm.

The quantity for a low price means these are great to get huge hordes of Stalins bullet catchers.

can anyone say IG conscripts?

Cheep lots of models. underequipt with auto guns and some chopping and adding of bits you could even use these as standard IG platoon

Never played secrets, but that is a great box of stuff.

Not the most detailed, but for the money who cares, get a half decent paint job on them and they will look fine on the gaming table.

I’d be perfectly happy if someone turned up with those as guard for a game of 40K too to be perfectly honest, and I think the likes of GW are missing a trick here.

The constant search for finer detail and the like is great if, like me, you are more interested in the painting than the playing, I make no apologies for that, I play 40K and am trying Infinity but I love miniatures, from everywhere, but for pure gaming purpose, all the obsession with extra detail does is drive up army costs.

Realisticly, in a horde army like Orcs, or pretty much and 8th edition fantasy game these days, you cant see the miniatures beyond the first rank anyway, especially not at 4 feet away or whatever, 40K guard is similar, in that its just masses of bodies, paying for detals most people cant even see on a table is fine when the costs were in the realms of reality, but now?
I think if the minis cant be made at a reasonable price with all this detail, then the answer should be stuff like this for rank and file, it seems the way to keep the gaming part of the hobby viable to new players.
Save the details for the commanders and heroes.

definitly good for the money, if it’s the same ones I found on the site they cost £18.50 (!) and the 15mm ones cost the same for 130 guys! Awesome deals if you arent too fussed about the sculpts being impressive and just want a big number for cheap.

I struggle w/ wanting to get into historical war games. The value and attraction is definitely there.
Just when I step to others with the notion of diving in head first. Two problems always hit me, I am told you are showing your age- only older folks do war games that are historical. Which I am ok with, we all grow old sooner or later.The other is it is hard for me to paint at 20mm or 15mm.

If my painting skills were better, would be all over those there…

I just cant have a set of figures with no paint on them. If I have them they must be painted, this being said if there was ever a 25mm to 30mm which I think crosses over to 1/35 scale.
historical game that people played. At that kind of pricing or value. You could call me an old fart wouldn’t care I would be all over it…

Those are 28mm I believe.

I bought some 28mm spartans a few weeks ago, Immortal miniatures ones, great things, 24 models for £10 or so.

These are even cheaper, 57 for about £18 seems to be the price.

Right,
I said if there was a game that was historical that was 25 to 30 mm I would go for it due to my painting skills not being where I would personally like them.

I also kinda feel that maybe the future of war gaming may go in the direction you see here with this video Andy did with the combining of Soldiers from one maker and then the rules produced by another.

Its not a far reach to see a hobby one day, where one company only produces fantastic rule books for war gaming. Then another producing only top shelf soldiers for the best value. The reason would be some what obvious it would lessen the load on companies trying to do both.

This could be a possible future for our hobby, guys. Just thought of it while watching the video again. Good Job Andy I like Video’s that make you think 🙂

Waiting for US coming in packages like this. Warlord has some but not US Army. They have Marines which is what I really wanted but GIs would be what lots of other people are looking for.

I love SOTR 1949: best platton-level combat system ever! However, it’s been hard to get people already bursting at the seams with minis to invest in a new army. This might do the trick! Cheers!
