Hi there,

My name’s Ben, I’m an aspiring wargame terrain manufacturer. My first product is currently in print: it’s a combination of die-cut card tiles and plastic supports & clips for an apocalyptic setting. It’s just me in the company, and I’ve found there’s a lot more to it than I imagined, but I have really enjoyed the process. All the physical bits should be ready with the launch of a website in a month or so. If nothing gets held up…

The part of the job that feels alien to me so far is marketing. I don’t know where to start or what to do. How do I get my product in shops, for starters? Do I sell it through Amazon? Or through my website? I’ve never been great at promotion, I’ve always just been a ‘maker’. Can anyone offer any advice on this? Where did your own adventures in business start?
