Pre-Order The Core Rules & More For Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition
June 16, 2026 by brennon
As well as the big release for Armageddon coming up this weekend, there are also pre-orders live from Games Workshop for those who want the extra rules and gubbins to use with their existing armies in 11th Edition Warhammer 40,000.
Core Rules // Warhammer 40,000
Kicking things off, you can get your hands on the individual set of Core Rules. This small-format version of the rules has been designed to be easy to transport and use at the tabletop alongside the Warhammer 40,000 App. It contains all of the basics you need to reference in gameplay but will be handy alongside the app, which will also be a good place to build your armies and track your games.
The second book that you can pick up is the Combat Patrol Companion.
Combat Patrol Companion // Warhammer 40,000
This book is very, very, very much aimed at someone who is new to Warhammer 40,000. It contains no rules and is essentially written like an introduction to Warhammer 40,000 as if it was dictated to you by someone in a Warhammer store. Ash Barker did a good review of this, saying pretty much this, pointing out that it's great for a newcomer or a younger gamer getting into Warhammer 40,00 but beyond that, it's very much not something you need to worry about as a veteran.
Warhammer 40,000 Mission Decks
As well as the new books, you can also get your hands on the two decks that were included as part of the Armageddon launch box. The first of these is the Warhammer 40,000: Chapter Approved Mission Deck 2026-27.
Chapter Approved Mission Deck // Warhammer 40,000
This deck contains all of the cards you'll need for running Matched Play games of Warhammer 40,000 in 11th Edition. You will get cards for Deployment, Force Dispositions, Primary Missions, Secondary Missions, and optional Twists.
If you're looking to play a campaign in a weekend, then you also have the Dominatus Narrative Campaign Pack.

This gives you Games Workshop's rules for linking together multiple games of Warhammer 40,000 without the bookkeeping. The focus here is on Armageddon itself and gives you a lot of the benefits of the old Crusade mode for 10th Edition but a little more focused and tied to a series of games with friends over a weekend rather than months.
Warhammer 40,000 Terrain Area Set
Last but not least, we have the official Terrain Area Set from Games Workshop. You'll already have seen these from a variety of different independent creators but you can also get this official double-sided set if you like.

These are usable alongside the Chapter Approved Mission Deck and allow you to set up your terrain and objectives based on the missions within. You just stick your existing terrain on the top of these templates and away you go, hopefully giving you more balanced pick-up games at the local club or with friends.
Will you be getting some of the additional rules and gubbins for Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition?

That cardboard terrain set is about as dull as you can get. What a way to sell a new version of a game.
