These are dusters. It’s a pilot in a mech suit. A very powerful unit, dusters are strictly optional in game play and you only bring them if both players agree.
Honestly, most players don’t play with them but the models are neat.

Near future sci fi. Or as I like to describe it, Ukraine next week.
Photos are from a recent game. Black Pact (basically space pirates) vs UN Raid Force Alpha (elite clones and sophisticated drones).
Scenario was for Black Pact to escort a traitor from one side of the map to the other. UN was trying to stop them.
Black Pact are generally…[Read more]

So … the ‘teburu’ system is getting more content ? That is good news. I’m still no fan of the app-driven format for games, because I don’t expect that tech to survive as long as good old fashioned cardboard […]

I’d say it’s not that 40k is aimed at ‘tournament players’.
I’d say it is aimed at sucking wallets dry.It only aligns with ‘tournament players’, because the goals of both align as they want to play games while only ever engaging with the hobby-side of things as little as possible. That’s why tournaments need to have prizes for…[Read more]

// of course you can play any game any way you want but that wasn’t the point. the point is: what is your jam?
If I had to pick a jam ?
It’d be anti-competitive 😛
It’s not something I do for a living, so I’m not a professional gamer either.// if you buy a game that is designed competitive but you change rules so you can play more fluffy and c…[Read more]

Never played competitive. Always play with (against?) friends. Winning is nice, but having fun is more important.

I’m completly on board with @grantinvanman and @jeffersonpowers here.
@limburger of course you can play any game any way you want but that wasn’t the point. the point is: what is your jam?

every game is miniature agnostic.
every game is a narrative game
every game can be a tournament game
it’s all about perception and how the community responds.Good rules aren’t things that are strictly for tournaments. Claiming that only tournaments need them is false and makes narrative games feel like a way for companies to cheap out on the…[Read more]
