I’ve had a few queries about the bases on this project so I thought I’d quickly show how they are done. When I first attempted using rollers I got into a right mess but there is an excellent ‘Gerry Can’ video on the site which showed me where I went wrong. I’d highly recommend watching it but here are the basics

Firstly I used some Brown Stuff, green stuff or milliput will do and rolled into a ball. Then I press it over the base, WWX bases are good for this as they have a slight lip which acts as a good guide. You want the putty to be just a tiny bit above level.

Next, and this is the key part where I went wrong originally, using a brush put a thin coating of Vaseline over the putty, this will ensure you roller doesn’t stick!!

Then it’s a simple case of rolling across the base and trimming any excess. I then leave it overnight, give it a wash with soap, warm water and an old toothbrush to clean of the Vaseline and you’re done!

Heres the link to the Gerry Can tutorial for a more professional lesson!

only other question is who would need a base that big…

This was another drawing that I saw from Salute and the model doesn’t disappoint! Time for some major muscle for the Nazombu!!This was another drawing that I saw from Salute and the model doesn’t disappoint! Time for some major muscle for the Nazombu!!

Now this is a big, gribbly model so to save myself some time I’m going prime it Skeleton bone and then overspray from the top with an army green. Hopefully that’ll take a lot of the leg work out of it!

Simple red, orange and yellow for the RJ canisters.Simple red, orange and yellow for the RJ canisters.

After the drybrush it’s time to go in with the washes. Firstly a fifty/ fifty dark tone and medium all over then same with a soft tone.

Then a flesh tone followed by a red tone for the mouth and finally a gloss varnish again for the mouth.

Once I’ve painted up the girl in the cage for the end of the tail I’ll give the whole thing a Matt coat.

And this parts done, next, the cage!

Now the big boy is done it’s now time to paint the contents of what I can only assume is it’s lunchbox! Thankfully she comes unattached from the cage so is relatively simple paint job.

After a brief hiatus it’s back to the world of WWX. This posse has been sitting around for months and I finally have gotten around to painting it. The Bloody Espinosas! After a brief hiatus it’s back to the world of WWX. This posse has been sitting around for months and I finally have gotten around to painting it. The Bloody Espinosas!

First up it’s the Daddy of this band of musical mercenaries, Felipe Espinosa!

Early on I realised that the first two reds I used were to similar hence why I went back in with a third red!

For the base I wet blended some Oak Brown into the biege brown to give the  wood a two tone effect

Next up a quick highlight step with a Brainmatter Beige drybrush and then some washes

Quick tidy up and he’s done!

Slowly the work continues and this week, spurred on by Warzans dulcet tones on the radio and a particularly pleasant bottle of vino the brute of the band, Vivian Espinosa is done. Now for a drybrush and some washes.

there was also a 50/50 dark tone, wash medium over the grey areas. Missed the photo!

And that’s big Viv ready to roll. Need to do some gloss work on the gribbly bits but I’m waiting to finish them all to give a Matt coat first.
