Thank you bvandewalker, I hear what you are saying.

For me though, I’m not a newbie, I’ve been into wargaming and roleplaying since 1987 (11 years old!) and have been on this site since 2016/2017.

what I object to is the articles (Female Custodes, Black Space Wolves, Hera from War of the Rohirrim) (you can spot the articles by the extremely high number of comments) getting co-opted by certain users wanging on about “woke agenda” this and that. Or they’ll complain about “the lore”.

The thing about lore is that The Horus Heresy was a one-liner because GW needed a way to explain why identical giant robots would be fighting each other! Ghazgull Thrakka was originally an Orkish pun on Margaret Thatcher. The lore is silly, made up and wholly mutable.

The clincher for me came yesterday where comments that overtly and explicitly dismissed my lived existence and identity as a trans woman. This isn’t just “differing opinions” and it can’t be brushed aside as such –  it’s certain people choosing to diminish and devalue people like me as “less than” because they don’t want to embrace the wider world they are part of.

I chose to be a member here and have a subscription to support this site, to enjoy models and painting. I certainly don’t have to stick around when a vocal minority have made it clear that I’ll never be anything but a lesser human in their eyes.
